Are you PARTISAN?

Are you PARTISAN?

Are you allowing this upcoming election with it’s Republican and Democratic candidates squabbling for control of the government reigns to divide you and pit you against your spiritual family members?

The church is already splintered by denominational dogmas and racial disparity. We already cannot unite as the people of God because of our cultural differences and unwillingness to respect those differences. We woefully fail at giving honor to those who are not “like us” or agree with us.

This current government though it cries out with it’s lips for unity across all aisles has done more to create Partisans than any regime that I’ve ever experienced in my lifetime. The current rhetoric via Fox News and CNN News has completely erased all moderate or middle ground. Partisanism has firmly set it’s anchor and put down it’s roots not only in our society politically but it has taken root in our churches.

What does it mean to be Partisan? What is Partisanism?

Partisan is defined as:
A firm adherent to a party, faction, cause, or person.
Exhibiting a BLIND allegiance, a prejudiced, and unreasoning allegiance to an individual or a particular cause.
In news reporting and in politics partisans are those who only see and report one side of the problem without regard to actual truth or the facts.

I don’t think it’s necessary for me to have to try and explain this. This is the way of the world right now. It is our dysfunction here in the United States of America. Of course for all of my posts I have a reason. It is my goal to educate, exhort and even warn those who read it. Secondly, most of my posts are the result of my own personal experiences as I engage people everyday.

Well, I have traveled lately from the East Coast to the West Coast and a few places in between and my Christian brothers and sisters, my spiritual family members around the country are so confused and divided because of this struggle between the Republicans and Democrats in this nation.

I have had heated discussions. I have had to listen to ignorant rhetoric. I have had to defend my moral belief system. I have had to explain that God Himself is concerned about morality and character. I’ve had to protect myself against physical assault because of my commentary about the character or nature of someone’s favorite candidate. This is me talking to SAINTS.

We can’t be so “Partisan”, so blind, so prejudiced, so unreasonably in allegiance to someone that does not even have the power to save us that we start biting and devouring one another in the body of Christ.

Jesus doesn’t even require blind allegiance. He wants us to love the Lord with all of our heart, MINDS, soul and strength. You have good REASON to follow Jesus. He doesn’t have truth, He is the truth. He doesn’t make bogus promises that He cannot fulfill. All of the promises in Him are yea and amen.

Jesus died on the cross to unify us and He did. Jesus rose from the dead to give us power over the powers that be and He did. Not everybody understands the power of a “real” relationship with Jesus, the son of God. If you didn’t know, He also happens to be God the Son. I put my faith in what He did for ALL mankind one day and it changed my life. Did it change yours?

I’m not Partisan as it relates to taking sides and blindly fighting for a party or some individual who can only hope that what they say they can do. I’m Partisan as it relates to my commitment to the Lord and His kingdom. Not everyone is strong enough to put aside party differences and no one can doubt their salvation.

I’m just writing to remind you that as Christians we are members “one of another”. We can’t let politics or personalities that are self-promoting, under the guise of Making America Great, or Unifying ALL People, drive us further and further apart from each other.

We’re already splintered, divided by denominationalism, culture, and religious dogmas. We don’t need to add politics to the mix. In the words of a good old country preacher over in Dallas Texas that I talked to just a couple of weeks ago, “Politicians don’t have a heaven or a hell to put nobody in. Y’all better trust Jesus for your future.”

That’s all. Why is the post so long? (YOU NEED TO READ!!!).

1Cor. 1:10 CEV
My dear friends, as a follower of our Lord Jesus Christ, I beg you to get along with each other. Don’t take sides. Always try to agree in what you think.
