Who’s in your ear?
I was afflicted with something called vertigo a few months ago. It was an acute attack that threw me to the ground and distorted all of my reality. My whole world was spinning. I found out that it was the result of what was in my ear. The doctor told me that sometimes something can get down into your ear that causes you to lose your equilibrium. Something in your head can cause you to lose your balance and the fear is that you may fall and hurt yourself.
A lot of people are becoming unstable and are falling and hurting themselves and their testimonies because of what’s in their ear. Or better yet, “who’s in their ear.” The wrong information, the wrong person or the wrong doctrine in your ear can cause you to lose your balance. The devil wants us to become unbalanced and extreme so that when trouble comes we don’t know how to stand against the wiles of the devil. Spiritual balance can be maintained by “sound doctrine”.
Ephesians 4:6
“…We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try and trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth.”
Yes, there are lies that sound like the truth. Hint: (Any teaching that makes you believe more in yourself than in the God who made you is a clever lie.”) We have to guard our hearts and our ears from the mangling of the truth by those who want to make merchandise of us. Sorry, (get paid).
2Timothy 4:3
For the time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound (doctrine) wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.
So I ask you, Who’s in your ear? What are you listening to? Is what you believing distorting your reality? Is your world spinning out of control? Do you find yourself falling all of the time? Is it hard for you to stand?
I hear God saying to the preachers that speak for Him these words.
2Timothy 4:1-2
I solemnly urge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead when he comes to set up his Kingdom: Preach the word of God, Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke and encourage your people with good teaching.
It is the preaching of the Word of God not the clever teachings of men that will enable us to stand and not fall in the days ahead. There are in the days ahead real tests of our faith coming to the rich and the poor, the black and the white, to the haves and the have nots.
The question is: Who’s in your ear? Who’s preparing you for the days ahead? Never forget that our best days are ahead for sure, but every spiritual revival is met with a revival of opposition.
1Cor. 6:19
For a great door has opened wide for me, (revival) though many are in opposition.
Last word,
Isaiah 21:6
Meanwhile, the Lord said to me, “Put a watchman on the city wall. Let him shout out what he sees.”
I see victory but it’s not without a fight. Prepare for battle. It’s starts with, “Who’s in your ear”. Cut some folk off, get some people out of your ear. Let’s kick bad doctrine to the curb.
Stand for something and stop falling for everything.
